How It Works

Are there solar companies that offer monthly payment plans like a traditional electricity bill?

Last updated September 2, 2026

Yes — SunFund offers monthly solar payment plans designed to work like a regular utility bill, so you can go solar with little to no upfront cost. Two structures are common: a Fixed monthly plan (a flat, predictable amount) and a Metered plan (you pay only for the solar energy your system produces).

Fixed monthly plan

You pay a flat, predictable amount each month for the term of the plan — much like a subscription. Budgeting is simple: the figure does not move with the weather or your usage.

Metered plan

You pay only for the solar energy your system actually generates, charged at a per-kWh rate that is typically lower than the grid — around ₱8 per kWh, versus roughly ₱12–13 per kWh for a typical Meralco residential rate. When your system is producing you buy that energy cheaper than from the utility; when it is not, you draw from the grid as usual.

How it works in practice

Plan terms run up to 10 years, and because most systems are externally funded, many homeowners start with zero or minimal upfront cost. Net metering is supported, so surplus energy your system exports can earn bill credits that offset what you draw at night or on cloudy days. In effect, your solar payment replaces or reduces a large part of your existing electricity bill, rather than adding a new one on top.
